UBI: true freedom, better economy, reduced crime, less deaths

Recently, researchers found that a universal basic income (UBI) can dramatically reduce work-related stress, “in 2016/17 stress was found to be responsible for 40% of all work-related cases of, and 49% of all working days lost due to, ill-health.”, the report mentions.

Work and survival-related stress will keep killing people without a bottom layer of economic safety that a universal basic income can provide, but that’s not what a UBI is all about. Automation is estimated to replace 80% of all IT jobs in America soon, according to a 2016 report by Futurism, but that was in 2016.

Today, robots can even replace construction workers. Just recently, a humanoid robot successfully installed drywall all by itself.

“Last week, researchers from Japan’s Advanced Industrial Science and Technology Institute unveiled HRP-5P, a humanoid robot that uses a combination of software and sensors to complete several of the same tasks human construction workers tackle.”, the report says.

Each year that passes it seems like automation will replace more and more jobs, and that’s a good thing, we just have to adapt. That’s exactly what Andrew Yang is about to do if he gets elected in the American Presidential elections of 2020.

“Together we can make the Freedom Dividend real and end poverty in the United States by 2021.”, Yang mentions in his website which includes that great video of the idea.

A universal Basic Income can result to true individual freedom, while dramatically improving the economy, reducing crime by 40% and reducing death and illness.
